Travel

Martha’s Vineyard is accessible by air or ferry, but getting to an island does take a bit of extra planning. We recommend making your travel arrangements well in advance of the wedding weekend—especially if you’re planning to bring a car.

  • Flying directly into MVY is often the most convenient option—especially for guests coming from the Northeast.

    Airport Details:
Martha’s Vineyard Airport is centrally located at 71 Airport Road, West Tisbury, MA 02575—just a 10–15 minute drive from Edgartown. Taxis, Uber, Lyft, and car services are readily available, and on-site car rentals are offered through Avis, Budget, and Hertz.

Note: MVY is a small, easy-to-navigate airport—you typically only need to arrive about an hour before your flight. That said, flights can be pricey, so we recommend booking early!

  • 96 miles from Edgartown

If you're flying in from farther away or prefer a more flexible flight schedule, BOS is a great option. From there, you can reach the island by car, bus, and ferry.

    • Rent a car at the airport and drive to Woods Hole (about 90 minutes)

    • Book a car service or use Uber/Lyft

    • Take a bus from Logan or South Station to Woods Hole

Once in Woods Hole, hop on the ferry (with or without a car). See the “Arriving by Ferry” section for more info.

  • Ferries are one of the most popular and cost-effective ways to get to Martha’s Vineyard—and with several routes and operators to choose from, there’s likely an option that fits your travel plans.

All ferries welcome walk-on passengers, and many allow pets and bicycles. Parking is available at mainland terminals for a daily fee. Most services recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before departure to allow time for parking, check-in, and boarding. Onboard, you’ll typically find refreshments, restrooms, and sometimes WiFi.

Ferries arrive at either Oak Bluffs (about a 15-minute drive to Edgartown) or Vineyard Haven (around 20 minutes). Both ports have taxis, Uber/Lyft, car services, and are served by the Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA) bus line.

Important Note: Please don’t plan to leave the island the night of the wedding—the last ferry departs before the celebration ends, and we’d hate for you to be stranded without a place to stay!
